ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team recognized the accomplishments of the 2013 season at its annual awards banquet on Fri., March 28, including the presentation of 10 annual team awards. Women’s soccer legend Michelle Akers delivered the evening’s keynote speech.
Awards handed out by head coach Steve Holeman and his staff included:
Sportsmanship Award: Bella Hartley
Most Improved: Madeline Barker
Rookie of the Year: Gabby Seiler
Coaches Award: Summer Burnett
Heart & Soul: Madeline Barker
Defensive MVP: Nikki Hill
Offensive MVP: Marion Crowder
Team MVP: Torri Allen
Academic Achievement Award: Liliana Rios
Booster of the Year: Jim Turner
Additionally, the team celebrated the many accolades it received during the 2013 season, including second team NSCAA All-Region honors for Allen and Crowder; second team All-SEC honors for Allen and an All-SEC Freshman nod for Crowder; College Sports Madness All-SEC recognition for Allen, Barker, and Crowder; a place on the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for Hill; and an 11th consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Award.
Georgia is currently in the midst of its spring season, owning a 2-1 record after a sweep of Wake Forest and Mercer on Saturday afternoon in Athens. The Bulldogs will take on North Georgia this Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the UGA Soccer Stadium. The game is open to the public and admission is free.
