ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team will resume action in its spring season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Wake Forest and Mercer at the UGA Soccer Stadium. The Bulldogs will take on the Demon Deacons at 2 p.m., followed by the Bears at 5:30 p.m. Wake Forest and Mercer will play one another at 3:30 p.m. in neutral-site action.
Saturday’s games are open to the public. Admission is free.
In its most recent outing, Georgia suffered a 2-1 loss to Clemson in the first spring game back on March 1.
The squad is coming off a 12-7-1 fall season with a 5-5-1 record in Southeastern Conference play, and reached the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament in 2013.
Last month, head coach Steve Holeman announced the No. 10-ranked signing class in the nation, welcoming nine new players for the 2014 season – including three who are already on campus and are competing this spring. He has since added three additional players to the group – including Sweden U-19 goalkeeper Louise Högrell and Honduras U-20 midfielder/defender Eli Martinez. The incoming class will bolster a returning group of three seniors, six juniors, and 15 sophomores from last season.
After Saturday, Georgia is next in action next Thursday, April 3, taking on North Georgia at 7 p.m. in Athens.
