March 20, 2014
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer head coach Steve Holeman has announced the addition of Florida native Alex Pallo to the roster for the upcoming 2014 season. The incoming class now includes 12 players.
“Alex is a super-steady midfielder who brings a calming presence to the center of the park,” Holeman said. “She is very reliable in possession, and is excellent at staying composed and connecting her passes. She’s also a strong tackler and very good ball-winner.”
Pallo joins the Bulldogs from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., playing for William T. Dwyer High School and VSI West FI Flames club team. Pallo helped the Flames to a third-place finish at ECNL Nationals in the Champions League in 2013, in addition to back-to-back Florida State Cup championships in 2012-13 and the Super Y national championship in 2013. She has played with Florida’s ODP squad and was a US Soccer Federation Center participant.
In high school, she was a four-year letterwinner and team captain, named team MVP in 2013-14, and led the team in goals and assists in each of her four seasons.
Since Holeman’s 2014 class was ranked No. 10 in the nation and No. 3 in the Southeastern Conference by TopDrawerSoccer.com, Georgia has added three players – Sweden U-19 goalkeeper Louise Högrell and Honduras U-20 midfielder/defender Eli Martinez as well as Pallo.
The highly-touted group will supplement a returning roster of three seniors, six juniors, and 15 sophomores.
Georgia is currently in the midst of its spring campaign, next taking on Wake Forest and Mercer on Sat., March 29 in Athens.
