ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia sophomore defender Nikki Hill has been invited to participate in the Canadian U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Pre-Tournament Camp to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, Feb. 13-27, according to an announcement by Women’s National Team Manager Daniel Michelucci.
Twenty of the 23 players selected to the pre-tournament camp will be selected to represent Canada at the World Cup’s qualifying tournament for North and Central America as well as Caribbean nations – the CONCACAF U20 Women’s Championship – in Panama City, Panama. The CONCACAF tournament will be held at the beginning of March in anticipation of the U20 World Cup in Japan in August.
Hill, a native of Scottdale, Ariz., has previously been called into camps in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Alliston, Ontario while at Georgia and has additional camp experience in South Surrey, British Columbia; Juarez, Mexico; and El Paso, Texas.
She earned a starting role on the back line for Georgia in 2011, playing over 1,700 minutes in starting 18 of 21 games in which she played, and scored her first career goal vs. Ole Miss on Oct. 9.
