ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie against Georgia Southern in the team's final game of the spring season Saturday night before over 1,000 fans at the UGA Soccer Stadium. The Bulldogs finish the six-date campaign with an overall record of 8-1-1 that includes five wins in last weekend's 7v7 tournament.
The Eagles struck first as they intercepted a back pass and scored early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded later in the first frame as rising senior Nikki Hill sent a ball into classmate Meghan Gibbons, who tallied the equalizer. The teams headed into halftime locked at 1-1, which is where it remained despite a strong second half for Georgia and a final shot count of 11-4 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Georgia has not yet released its schedule for the upcoming fall season. The Bulldogs return six regular starters from the 2012 team and welcome in a freshman class of 11.
