ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout of North Georgia on Thursday night at the UGA Soccer Stadium, moving the Bulldogs’ spring record to 3-1 with three games remaining.
Georgia led 21-4 in the shot column on the night, while keeper Morgan Orobello grabbed four saves in goal to collect the blank sheet. The Bulldogs got goals from Rachel Garcia, Caroline Waters, and Bria Washington, and freshman Becca Rasmussen has now recorded six assists in her last three games – including two tonight.
The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game as Rasmussen fed Garcia inside, and the rising sophomore finished into the back of the net to put Georgia on top. It moved to 2-0 just three minutes later when Waters cleaned up a loose ball, with the assist going to Lauren Tanner on the right wing.
It remained 2-0 at halftime, but Georgia added to the lead to make it 3-0 with 19 minutes to go in the game when Gabby Seiler’s initial shot was blocked by the keeper, Ramsussen followed the rebound and Washington sent her pass into the back of the net. Seiler and Rasmussen were credited with assists on the third and final goal.
Georgia returns to action this Sunday, traveling to take on SEC rival Auburn at 2 p.m. ET.
