COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Georgia soccer team continued its 2012 spring season Sunday, splitting a doubleheader in Columbia, S.C., by defeating UNC Charlotte 1-0 and falling 2-0 to SEC rival South Carolina at Eugene E. Stone Stadium.
The Bulldogs suffered the 2-0 loss to the Gamecocks in their first game of the day before bouncing back to take the 1-0 victory over the 49ers in the second. The games were each 60 minutes, with two 30-minute halves. Georgia got the winning goal vs. Charlotte from Chika Ibiam off an assist from Nikki Hill, who was playing on the attack up from her normal spot on the back line.
Georgia continues to battle injuries this off-season, as it headed to Columbia armed with only two subs and ultimately had to use several players out of their normal roles - including goalkeeper Callie Corbin Langford who saw time on offense.
The Bulldogs will close their spring slate on Sat., April 14 at 10 a.m. with the annual Alumni Game. Information on the alumni weekend can be found on Georgiadogs.com.
