Dan Blank was promoted to associate head coach of the Georgia soccer team in December of 2011 after spending the 2010 and 2011 seasons as the team's assistant coach under Steve Holeman.
Blank's first season with Georgia soccer was 2010, as he joined Holeman in Athens following three seasons as an assistant at Ole Miss. Blank was previously a volunteer coach for the Rebels in 2007 and 2008, before he was promoted to a full-time assistant in 2009.
In his first year in charge of the Ole Miss defense, Blank helped lead the Rebels to the best goals-against average in the SEC.On that note, Blank became the first coach in SEC history to lead his defense to the best goals-against average in consecutive years at different universities in 2010. In 2009 with the Rebels, Blank's defense put up a conference-best 0.68 GAA in SEC games. A year later at UGA, Blank led the Bulldogs to a GAA of 0.60 in league games to top the SEC.
Guiding the Georgia defenders, Blank helped the Bulldog backs post a 0.85 goals against average overall that year, allowing just 19 goals all season and coming away with nine shutouts on the year. Defenders Rebekah Perry and Torri Allen were named second-team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman, respectively, under Blank's leadership in 2010. In 2011, Blank's back-four put up a goals against average of 1.20 and recorded six shutouts, and in both 2012 and 2013, they posted a 1.10 GAA. Also in 2013, Blank's back line was instrumental in securing the second-longest shutout streak in school history at 652:37. The team did not allow a goal in the run of play until the 11th game of the season.
Blank boasts a wealth of coaching experience and success at many levels of soccer. Prior to joining the Rebel staff in 2007, he spent nine years as the head women's coach at Embry-Riddle University after building the program from scratch in 1998. A three-time Florida Sun Conference Coach of the Year and NAIA Region 14 Coach of the Year, Blank compiled a 98-61-8 record and guided the Eagles to three conference titles, three NAIA Region XIV titles, and three NAIA national tournament appearances.
Before his time at Embry-Riddle, Blank spent three seasons as head coach of the nationally ranked Brewton-Parker College women's soccer program, where he amassed a 47-13-3 record. He led the Barons to two NAIA tournament berths and three league titles, earning Georgia Athletic Conference Coach of the Year plaudits each season. The Barons were ranked as high as fourth nationally all three years.
Prior to his tenure at Brewton-Parker, Blank served for three years as assistant coach for Wheeling Jesuit College, helping that program to three national tournament berths as well as three regional and district titles.
Blank has also had success on the semi-pro level, having served as an assistant coach and assistant general manager for the USL W-League's Atlanta Classics from 1997-98 and head coach of the Jacksonville Jade in 2001 and 2002, leading that franchise to its first ever winning record.
Blank has helped produce more than 25 collegiate All-Americans and numerous NAIA Scholar-Athletes and Academic All-America picks throughout his career. He holds a USSF "A" License and an advanced national diploma from the NSCAA.
Blank played his collegiate soccer at Bethany College (W. Va.), where he earned a bachelor's degree in communications in 1991. At Bethany, he played under coaching legend Graham Ramsay and helped the Bison to four straight NCAA Division III Tournament berths.
Blank resides in Athens with his wife, Beth, and their daughter, Izzy.
