ATHENS-----The Georgia gymnastics team recently hosted Evening With The Gym Dogs, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The event was an auction item for the Suits and Sneakers fundraiser, and nearly $12,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society. Several gymnastics clubs were also involved in the fundraiser that included games and a Q&A session with the Gym Dogs.

“Evening With The Gym Dogs was a tremendous success,” said UGA head coach Danna Durante. “Without the support of our local gymnastics clubs we would not have been able to raise the amount of money we did for the American Cancer Society.

“When I first arrived on campus in the summer, Mark and Cindy Fox asked if I'd be willing to get involved with their Suits and Sneakers event. I was honored and knew immediately that our team would jump on board and do our best to provide support and help raise funds at this incredible event. Cancer has unfortunately touched my family many times and I have been looking for a way to help make a difference."

Nearly 500 guests attended the annual Suits and Sneakers Gala on Aug. 18 inside Stegeman Coliseum. The event raises money to help more than 10 million people affected by cancer.
