Gymnastics and Men's Cross Country Receive Faculty Athletics Representatives Award
The Georgia men's cross country team and women's gymnastics squads have been named recipients of the Faculty Athletics Representatives Award for earning the highest team grade point average (GPA) during the 2011-12 season.

This marks the second consecutive year that the men's cross country team has claimed the honor, and it's the first time since the 2007-08 season that the gymnastics team has received the award on the women's side.

The men's cross country squad averaged a team GPA of 3.31 during the year, while the women's gymnastics team compiled a 3.46 average. Tennis (3.13) and swimming (3.04) rounded out the top three finishers on the men's side, while cross country (3.34) and equestrian (3.26) finished second and third, respectively, in the women's standings.

A total of 12 Georgia student-athletes achieved a GPA of 4.0 during the Fall 2011 semester, while 17 student-athletes earned a 4.0 during the Spring 2012 semester. Also during the fall semester, 121 student-athletes compiled a GPA between 3.5-3.99, while 133 athletes achieved that same mark during the spring semester.
