Six Gym Dogs Earn NACGC/W Academic Honors

ATHENS-----Six members of the 2014 Georgia gymnastics team earned Scholastic All-America honors, it was announced Tuesday by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W).

Demetria Hunte (Psychology) and Anysia Unick (Biology) were recognized for the second straight year, while Lindsey Cheek (Psychology), Cat Hires (Communication Studies), Whitney Kirby (Exercise & Sport Science) and Rachel Schick (Biological Sciences) were first time honorees.

Gymnasts were recognized for attaining a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Earlier this summer, the UGA gymnastics team was recognized as having a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) score. Seven Gym Dogs were named to the Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll in addition to two on the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll. A total of nine Georgia gymnasts earned 15 academic honors in 2014.
