ATHENS-----Three incoming Georgia freshmen competed in the 2013 Junior Olympic National Championships last weekend in Minneapolis, Minn.
Ashlyn Broussard, Morgan Reynolds and Beth Roberts were among the nation’s best gymnasts to compete at the Minneapolis Convention Center. All three will be freshmen on the 2014 UGA gymnastics team.
Reynolds (37.725) and Broussard (37.625) tied for 12th and 17th, respectively, in the all-around, while Roberts (36.85) placed fourth in her session of the Level 10 National Invitational Tournament. Broussard also tied for eighth on bars with a 9.475.
Broussard, who has trained at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA), is a four-time qualifier to the Level 10 J.O National Championships. She placed eighth in the all-around and third on beam at 2012 J.O. Nationals.
Reynolds, an Athens, Ga., native has trained at Georgia Elite Gymnastics. She is a past J.O. Level 10 state all-around, bars and vault champion.
Roberts trained at Dream It Gymnastics in Tifton, Ga., and is a two-time qualifier to the J.O. National Invitational Tournament and competed in J.O. Nationals in 2011. She is also a two-time state bars champion.
Georgia will welcome six freshmen to the team in 2014.
