ATHENS——The Georgia gymnastics team was honored at the team’s annual Ten-O Club Banquet held Saturday at the UGA Tate Student Center.

The 2014 Gym Dogs finished fifth in the nation - their best finish since the 2009 national championship season - and qualified for the Super Six for the second time in as many seasons under head coach Danna Durante.

Team MVP honors went to senior Lindsey Cheek, who earned first team All-America honors on all three of her events and was the SEC Event Specialist of the Year. Cat Hires received the Suzanne Yoculan No Dream Too Big Award. She earned All-America honors and was a consistent contributor on three events for the Gym Dogs.

Sophomore Demetria Hunte took home the Sam Sheehan Spirit Award, and sophomore Whitney Kirby won the team’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
