ATHENS-----Vivi Babalis, a former member of the Canadian national team, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Georgia and compete for the Gym Dogs, head coach Danna Durante announced on Wednesday.

Babalis, a native of Montreal, Quebec, plans to enroll at UGA this fall. She trains at Gymnix in Montreal and is coached by Katerine Dussault, Francine Bouffard and Pierre Privé. Babalis was a member of the Canadian national team in 2010 and 2011.

"We are excited for Vivi to join our program," Durante said. "She is a great fit with her work ethic and her attention to detail. Given her passion for gymnastics and her drive and dedication in every area of her life, she will be a terrific addition to our team. Her strengths are beam and floor - areas where we are looking to build our skill level and consistency. We can't wait for Vivi to join us this fall."

Earlier this year at the Gymnastics Legends International competition, Babalis placed second on floor, fourth on beam, fifth on bars and fourth in the all-around. She was also fourth on beam at the International Gymnix.

Babalis was first in the all-around and floor and second on beam at the 2013 National Selection, and she also claimed the all-around, beam and bars titles at the National Stream Cup.

Babalis joins three others in Georgia's latest signing class: Natalie Vaculik (Whitby, Ontario), Gigi Marino (Scottsdale, Ariz.), and Hayley Sanders (McKinney, Texas).
