ATHENS-----Natalie Vaculik, a member of the Canadian national gymnastics team, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Georgia and compete for the Gym Dogs.
A native of Whitby, Ontario, Vaculik placed first on bars at the Elite Canada competition earlier this year. She came in second and led Canada to a second place finish at the 2013 Massilia Open in France and was fifth at the Massila Masters international competition.
Vaculik also placed fifth on bars at the Cottbus World Cup in Germany in March and finished second in the all-around at the 2013 Canadian Championships. She trains at Gemini Gymnastics and is coached by Elena Davydova and Valery Yachybekov.
"We are thrilled to have Natalie and her family join our Gym Dog family," said UGA head coach Danna Durante. "She is a tremendously bright young woman who will bring not only beautiful gymnastics, but a personality, work ethic and passion that are a perfect fit for our program. We can't wait for her arrival on campus."
Vaculik's sister, Kristina, is a gymnast at Stanford University and was a member of the Canadian national team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
