ATHENS-----The Georgia gymnastics team moved up to No. 4 in this week's national rankings with a 197.260 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). This marks the highest ranking for Georgia since it was No. 4 the week of Feb. 27, 2012. It is also the highest RQS for the Gym Dogs since 2008.
Florida is No. 1 with a 197.840 RQS, followed by Oklahoma (197.570), Alabama (197.415), Georgia, Michigan (197.235), UCLA (197.200), LSU (197.180), Nebraska (197.145), Utah (197.105) and Oregon State (196.900) to round out the top-10.
Georgia is ranked third on bars with a 49.415, fourth on beam (49.305), eighth on vault (49.400) and tied for 10th on floor (49.280).
Individually, Chelsea Davis is tied for second on the uneven bars with a 9.945 RQS, and Shayla Worley is tied for second on beam with a 9.920. Worley tied for first on beam with teammate Brittany Rogers at the SEC Championship on Saturday. Rogers, who also shared the SEC title on bars, is tied for ninth on that event.
Georgia will learn its NCAA Regional destination Monday during the NCAA Gymnastics Selection Show, which will air live on NCAA.com at 3 p.m. The six regional sites this year are Tuscaloosa, Ala., Gainesville, Fla., Morgantown, W.Va., Norman, Okla., Columbus, Ohio and Corvallis, Ore.
