ATHENS-----Georgia gymnast Sarah Persinger has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for her performances in the Gym Dogs' two wins last weekend, it was announced Tuesday.
Persinger scored a 39.350 in her first career all-around to lead Georgia to a 196.575-195.300 win at Michigan on Friday. She recorded season-highs on vault (9.9) and floor (9.875) against the Wolverines, then surpassed her mark on floor with a 9.9 Sunday against NC State. The Mount Holly, N.C., native added a pair of 9.825s on vault and beam to help the Gym Dogs post their second-highest total of the season.
