ATHENS-----Georgia gymnast Brittany Rogers has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week following her performance against Florida, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Rogers recorded two career-highs for the Gym Dogs last week. She turned in a career-best 9.925 on the uneven bars to place third, and posted her best beam score of the season with a 9.9 to tie for first. Rogers also scored a 9.875 on vault. Her performance on vault and bars helped the Gym Dogs score season-highs on both events.
The Coquitlam, British Columbia, native is currently tied for fourth nationally on the uneven bars with a 9.875 average and is ranked 19th on vault. Rogers has competed on vault, bars and beam in all eight meets this season, and she competed in the all-around against Kentucky on Feb. 8.
Rogers was also named SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 29 after she scored three career-highs in the Metroplex Challenge. This marks the fourth time this season a Georgia gymnast has been honored by the SEC. Brandie Jay was named Freshman of the Week on Jan. 22, and Kaylan Earls was named Specialist of the Week on Feb. 5.
Rogers and the eighth-ranked Gym Dogs will compete at Missouri Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
