ATHENS-----After scoring a 196.950 on the road last weekend, the Georgia gymnastics team came in at No. 6 in this week’s GymInfo Top 25. The Gym Dogs turned in their highest road score since 2010 in a narrow loss at top-ranked Utah.
The Utes stayed at No. 1 with a 197.031 average, followed by Alabama (196.675), Arkansas (196.667), Florida (196.630), Oklahoma (196.613), Georgia (196.005), UCLA (196.435), Nebraska (196.113), Oregon State (196.031) and Penn State (195.855) to round out the top-10.
In the team events, Georgia is ranked third on bars (49.210) and beam (49.155), eighth on vault (49.200) and ninth on floor (49.040).
All rankings are currently based on average scores. Beginning Feb. 27, rankings will be based on a team’s Regional Qualifying Score, which uses the six best regular season scores, of which three must be away. To obtain the RQS, the high score is eliminated and the remaining five are averaged.
Georgia returns home to face No. 3 Arkansas Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.georgiadogs.com or by calling the UGA Ticket Office at 706-542-1231.
