ATHENS-----The Georgia gymnastics team opened its 2014 season last week with road meets at Oklahoma and Stanford. Oklahoma defeated the Gym Dogs, 197.700-196.500, on Friday night in Norman, while Stanford rallied for a 196.325-196.150 win on Sunday. Oklahoma's 197.700 was the highest score of any team last weekend, and the 196.5000 was Georgia's highest score in a road opener since 2009.

Georgia will be back in action with two more meets in the coming days. No. 2 LSU will visit Stegeman Coliseum for a 2 p.m. meet on Friday, while the Gym Dogs will take on Iowa Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Gym Dogs fell one spot to No. 9 in this week's top-25. Oklahoma took over the No. 1 spot, followed by LSU, Alabama, Florida, Utah, UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan, Georgia and Arkansas in the top-10. Current rankings are based on average overall score. In the team event rankings, Georgia is ranked fourth on bars, tied for ninth on vault, eighth on beam and 19th on floor.

Lindsey Cheek had an impressive start to her senior campaign with 9.9s on vault and bars in both of Georgia's meets against Oklahoma and Stanford. Chelsea Davis had Georgia's highest score of the weekend with a 9.925 on bars against Stanford.

Four Georgia freshmen saw action during opening weekend. Ashlyn Broussard, Kiera Brown and Morgan Reynolds earned spots in the lineup, while Lauren Johnson performed an exhibition on vault.
