BATON ROUGE, La.-----The fifth-ranked Georgia gymnastics team posted its highest road score of the season and held off No. 21 LSU 196.500-196.350 Friday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

For the second straight meet, Georgia (7-3, 3-2 SEC) posted a 49 or higher on each event to extend its streak to nine straight rotations dating back to the Arkansas meet on Feb. 4. Three of the Gym Dogs' four apparatus scores were season-highs for road meets.

"I felt good about the way we competed," head coach Jay Clark said. "They were up and loose and in a good frame of mind. We had some things happen, we had to move Shayla (Worley) out of the floor lineup and go with five and do some things we needed to do. But we handled it, and I thought that was great.

"When you are on the road and in a hostile environment, it was a good way to compete. I thought the scoring was fairly tight and fair. I didn't think we got any gifts and we earned everything we got tonight."

Junior Gym Dog Kat Ding competed on three events including vault and beam for the first time, and scored a pair of 9.825s and a career-high tying 9.875 on the balance beam.

Georgia opened the meet by posting its highest bars score on the road with a 49.225. All five counted scores were 9.825 or above, including a 9.875 by Gina Nuccio to tie for first.

The Gym Dogs extended their lead to 98.25-98.05 with a 49.025 on vault in the second rotation as Cassidy McComb scored a 9.85 to lead the team.

Georgia again extended its lead in the third rotation with a 49.175 on floor behind a career-high 9.9 by Nuccio. Only five Gym Dogs competed in the event, and all five scored a 9.8 or higher. Entering the final rotation, UGA led 147.325-147.075.

The Gym Dogs closed out the meet with a 49.075 on beam. Hilary Mauro scored a 9.85 in the No. 4 spot, followed by Ding's career-high mark and a 9.825 by McComb. LSU (2-7, 0-4 SEC) posted its highest score of the night with a 49.275 on floor.

McComb and Noel Couch scored a 39.350 and a 39.225, respectively, in the all-around for the Gym Dogs.

Georgia will face Alabama at Stegeman Coliseum next Friday at 7:30 p.m., in the Gym Dogs' annual "Pink Out" meet benefitting the fight against breast cancer.
