The eighth-ranked Georgia gymnastics team (6-6, 4-3) posted its best score of the season with a 197.325 against No. 6 Alabama, including seven career-best performances in front of a crowd of 10,062 at Stegeman Coliseum on Sunday.

Danna Durante completed her fifth season as Georgia's head coach in 2017, finishing 12th in the NCAA Championships. The 2017 squad featured four first-time All-Americans, two All-SEC honorees and nine members on the SEC Honor Roll.

The Gymdogs finished sixth nationally in 2016 with two individual national champions - Brandie Jay on vault and Brittany Rogers on bars - the program's 41st and 42nd such titles. Three gymnasts claimed a total of 10 All-America honors, while five gymnasts earned All-SEC recognition. Eight Gymdogs were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2016.

Georgia finished ninth nationally in 2015 and won a NCAA regional for the 24th time in program history. Four Gymdogs garnered All-America honors, and five Georgia gymnasts - second most of any team in the conference - earned SEC honors. Seven Georgia gymnasts were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2015.

In her second season as Georgia's head coach in 2014, Durante led the Gym Dogs to a fifth place finish nationally - their best finish since the 2009 national championship season. A total of 16 All-America honors were earned by seven different Georgia gymnasts in 2014, including three first team honors on the balance beam. Under Durante's direction, Lindsey Cheek was named the first SEC Event Specialist of the Year.

The 2014 Georgia squad posted a 197.000 or higher in each home meet for just the second time in program history, and the Gymdogs posted a total of 14 wins against ranked opponents, navigating through what was rated as the nation's toughest schedule.

In 2013, Durante guided the Gymdogs back to the NCAA Super Six for the first time since 2009, and Georgia also achieved its highest ranking in four years. Brittany Rogers claimed a share of the SEC bars and beam titles, and Shayla Worley also shared the beam title. UGA notched wins over Alabama and Utah for the first time since 2009.

Georgia won the 2013 NCAA Corvallis Regional with the second-highest score of any team in the six regionals and entered the NCAA Championships as the No. 4 seed. The Gymdogs' RQS of 197.260 was its highest since 2008. Georgia also excelled in the classroom in Durante's first season in Athens as 12 Gym Dogs earned SEC Academic Honor Roll honors, and three postgraduate scholarships were awarded.

Durante, who served as head coach at California-Berkeley for the 2012 season and was the 2007 National Assistant Coach of the Year, was named head gymnastics coach at the University of Georgia on May 23, 2012.

With Durante at the helm, California-Berkeley experienced considerable improvement, as the Golden Bears posted an average score of nearly a point higher than the previous year. A total of 23 personal records were set by Cal gymnasts in 2012, and eight gymnasts earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors. She also led the Bears to their highest overall score in five years.

Prior to her stint at California-Berkeley, Durante spent nine seasons at the University of Nebraska as the Cornhuskers' beam coach and choreographer. She joined the Nebraska staff as an assistant coach in 2003, then served as associate head coach from 2007-2011.

Nebraska gymnasts earned a total of 23 All-America honors during Durante's time in Lincoln, and she helped guide the Cornhuskers to a fourth place finish at the 2011 NCAA Championships.

Before joining the Nebraska staff, Durante was an assistant for five years at Washington, where she helped lead the Huskies to the 1999 NCAA West Regional title and a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She was named the West Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2002.

Before joining the Washington program in 1998, Durante spent two years working as a coach with the Arizona Sunrays and Royal (Fla.) Gymnastics Club.

A native of Tulsa, Okla., Durante was a two-time member of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation National team in 1988 and 1990. She qualified for the 1988 Olympic Trials and won top honors in the all-around in 1986 and 1987 at the South African Cup. She competed internationally in Germany, France, Bulgaria and South Africa, and was also a two-time member of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation National Team. In addition, Durante served as a USAG Elite Level Judge from 1996 to 2000.

Durante graduated from Arizona State in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Wellness. She was an All-Pac-10 gymnast for the Sun Devils from 1992-95, and scored five perfect 10s. Durante and her husband Joe have a daughter, Samantha, and two sons, Jaxson and Jordan.
