Katie Heenan Dodson joined the Georgia gymnastics staff as an administrative associate in August 2012.
A former Georgia gymnastics standout, Dodson let the Gym Dogs to four NCAA titles from 2005-08. She finished her stellar career as the all-time leading scorer in Gym Dog history, and she earned a total of 13 All-America honors and a 131-9-1 record in four years.
In 2008 Dodson became the seventh Georgia gymnast to receive the prestigious Honda Award, given annually to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. A native of South Riding, Va., she was also named the 2008 Georgia Sportswoman of the Year by the Georgia Women's Intersport Network. Dodson became the fifth gymnast in Georgia history and the 12th in SEC history to garner All-SEC honors in each of her four years.
Dodson was a seven-year member of the U.S. National Team and was a bronze medalist at the 2001 World Championships. Prior to joining the UGA staff, Dodson coached for two years at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center in Lilburn, Ga.
Dodson graduated from UGA in 2009 with a degree in Middle School Education.She is married to Stephen Dodson, a former All-SEC pitcher for the Bulldogs and a 10th-round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2008. He is currently a member of the Rockies' AAA affiliate the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The couple has a son, Charlie, born in September 2009.
