ATHENS, Ga. --- Isabella "Bella" Skinner of Cumming, Ga., has signed a letter-of-intent to join the University of Georgia women's golf team next fall, head coach Josh Brewer announced on Monday. Skinner inked her papers during last week's NCAA early signing period.
"We're very excited to have Bella coming to Georgia," second-year head coach Josh Brewer said. "When we started at Georgia about a year and a half ago, we said we wanted to keep the best players in the state. Bella and (current freshmen) Mary Ellen (Shuman) are helping us with that cause by staying in state and coming to the state university."
Skinner's impressive junior resume includes advancing to the match play portion of the 2012 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship where she lost to Anne Freeman in 20 holes. She also holds the extremely unique distinction of recording a pair of holes in one in the same round. Skinner aced both No. 3 and No. 11 in the final round of the 2012 Carolinas-Georgia Junior Championship.
Skinner was a six-time winner on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour over the past two years, winning three of four appearances on the HJGT each year. Skinner captured medalist honors at the Upstate Junior Classic and the College Prep Series at UGA in both 2012 and 2013. She also won the 2012 Chateau Elan Junior Shootout and the 2013 Athens Junior Shootout.
Skinner attends West Forsyth High School where she the individual runner-up at the 2011 Georgia AAAAA State Tournament as a sophomore and tied for third individually in 2012. In 2011, she led West Forsyth to a runner-up showing in the team field as well.
