Franklin, Tenn. --- The Georgia women's golf team carded a 4-over 292 in Friday's opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Course, leaving the Lady Bulldogs in third place in the 18-team field.
Georgia is just three shots off the pace of UCLA and one stroke behind second-place Texas.
Senior Natalia Nicholls carded a 1-under 71 to lead Georgia's individual efforts. Nicholls is among a group of seven golfers a single stroke off the lead of Alison Molshe of Tulane, Cassandra Kirkland of Arizona and Perry Swenson of Texas.
The Lady Bulldogs' additional counting rounds were at pair of 73 from Whitney Wade and Kelly Froelich and a 75, which both Jackie Beers and Allison Martin posted. Wade and Froelich are tied for 14th, while Beers and Martin are tied for 30th.
Georgia is the defending champion, with the Mason Rudolph representing one of three tournament titles the Lady Bulldogs won in eight regular-season events last season.
