CALLAWAY GARDENS, Ga. --- Georgia golfers Amira Alexander and Amelia Hill finished second and seventh, respectively, as the Georgia Women's Open at Callaway Gardens' Mountain View Golf Course over the weekend.
Alexander, an incoming freshman from Alpharetta, Ga., carded rounds of 77 and 69 to finish at 2-over 146. In Sunday's final round, she mixed five birdies with two bogeys. Alexander was the only golfer among the 26 competitors to post a sub-70 score in either round of the 36-hole event.
Hill, a rising junior from St. Simons Island, Ga., shot 79-78=157.
This week, Alexander and Hill will compete in the Georgia State Golf Association's Top 60 Women's Classic at Governor's Towne Club in Acworth, Ga., on Wednesday and Thursday, while rising sophomore Rocio Sanchez Lobato will compete in the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship in Carnoustie, Scotland, beginning on Tuesday.
