Llanelli, U.K. --- Harang Lee, an incoming freshman on the Georgia women's golf team, won a pair of matches at the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship at the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club on Thursday to advance to the round of 16.
Lee, a native of Castro Uridales, Spain, defeated Emma Milsson of Sweden, 3&2, in her first-round match in the morning and returned to the course to top Ileen Domela Nieuwenhuis from the Netherlands, 1-up, in the afternoon.
Lee will now face Csilla Lajtai Rózsa of Hungary on Friday. Lajtai Rózsa reached the third round by upsetting sixth-seeded Celine Boutier of France, who also is a rising sophomore at Duke.
Lee entered match play as the No. 11 seed after shooting consecutive rounds of 73 to tie for ninth in stroke play qualifying contested on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Georgia rising junior Rocio Sanchez Lobato, who was runner-up in last year's British Am, shot 80-75=155 and failed to advance to the match play bracket. Sanchez Lobato's score was two strokes better than what she posted in 2012 but was only good enough to tie for 78th.
