Gainesville, Fla. --- The No. 4-ranked Georgia women's golf team struggled to a 310 in Friday's opening round of the SunTrust/Lady Gator Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course. The Lady Bulldogs are tied for ninth with Furman, 16 shots back of tourney-leading Wake Forest.
All five Georgia golfers combined to make just four birdies on the par-70 layout, two of those from junior Kelly Froelich. Froelich carded a 3-over 73 and is tied for third place in the individual field, two shots off the pace of Wake Forest teammates Christine Hallstrom and Ashley Hoagland.
The Lady Bulldogs' other counting scores were a 76 from Jackie Beers, an 80 from Whitney Wade and an 81 from Natalia Nicholls. Lisa Tyler shot 82.Beers is tied for 23rd, while Nicholls, Wade and Tyler are tied for 61st, 69th and 76th, respectively.
