FRANKLIN, Tenn. --- The No. 11-ranked Georgia women's golf team posted a 310 in Friday's opening round of the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview. The Bulldogs are in 17th place in the 18-team field, which includes the nation's top teams playing the same Vanderbilt Legends Club layout that will host the 2012 NCAA Championships next May.

Emilie Burger led Georgia with a 3-over 75. The Bulldogs also counted a 76 from Rocio Sanchez Lobato, a 79 from Marta Silva Zamora and an 80 from Milena Savich, while dropping Abby Johnson's 81.

"Burger and Rocio played pretty well, but Marta struggled," head coach Kelley Hester said. "Milena and Abby got off to poor starts and did the best they could. It was just a struggle."

The Bulldogs teed off with the earliest wave of teams under chilly and wet conditions.

"The weather was pretty poor when we started," Hester said. "It was really cold and rainy and different conditions than we've seen this year. We didn't adjust to them very well. Yesterday was sunny and nice. The course is playing longer today, but we're one of the longer teams in the field. Tee-to-green is shouldn't have made as much of a difference for us."

No. 2 Southern Cal grabbed the early lead after shooting a 4-over 292. The Women of Troy lead Arizona State by a stroke. The Sun Devils' Justine Lee carded a 1-under 71 and is the individual leader by a shot over a pack of seven golfers at even.

For Georgia, Burger is tied for 27th, Sanchez Lobato is tied for 42nd, Silva Zamora is tied for 66th, Savich is tied for 75th and Johnson is tied for 81st.

The Preview continues through Sunday, with hole-by-hole live scoring updates available at www.golfstat.com.
