CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The Georgia women's golf team carded a 5-under 283 in the final round of the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club on Tuesday, leaving the Bulldogs at even-par 864 for the 54-hole event and tied for fourth in the 22-team field.

No. 4 LSU's 11-under 277 gave the Tigers a 16-under 848 tally that was good enough for a five-shot win over No. 10 North Carolina. Rounding out the top-10 teams were No. 16 Florida at 856, the Bulldogs and N.C. State at 864, No. 15 Vanderbilt at 865, a three-way tie between No. 3 Alabama, No. 7 Duke and No. 11 Tennessee at 867 and South Carolina at 869.

"I felt like it would be hard to catch the leaders (today)," head coach Kelley Hester said. "They were playing really well and had created some separation. But we were in a pack with a bunch of teams grouped together. I thought that if we could come out on top of that heap, it would be a good tournament. After the first day, when we were 10th, it was good to catch and pass a good number of the people that were ahead of us."

Marta Silva Zamora notched her second straight 5-under 67 to lead Georgia on Tuesday. The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 1-under 71s from Emilie Burger and Rocio Sanchez Lobato and a 74 from Amelia Hill, while dropping Milena Savich's 77.

Silva Zamora teed off from No. 5 with a shotgun start and birdied No. 6, No. 9 and No. 10 before an eagle at No. 15 pushed her to 5-under through 11 holes. Following a bogey at No. 16, she birdied No. 18 before returning to No. 1 and completing her loop with four pars.

Burger also teed off from No. 5 and opened with a birdie there. A bogey at No. 14 put her back at even before birdies at No. 15 and No. 18 brought her to 2-under. Burger gave back a stroke at No. 3.

Sanchez Lobato's back-and-forth round featured five pars before a birdie at No. 9. She played the back half of the course at 1-over, with bogeys at No. 10, No. 12 and No. 16 along with birdies at No. 15 and No. 17. A birdie on her final hole of the day, No. 3, put her back in red numbers.

LSU's Austin Ernst fired a 5-under 67 to finish at 13-under 203 and overtake first- and second-round leader Erica Popson of Tennessee. Popson finished second at 207.

For Georgia, Sanchez Lobato tied for sixth at 5-under 211, Silva Zamora tied for 12th at 2-under 214, Burger tied for 22nd at 217, Hill tied for 67th at 227 and Savich tied for 86th at 232.

"Rocio had a great tournament," Hester said. "For her to come out and lead the team is really impressive. Marta was very solid, and Burger had a good tournament. We got some good production from the bottom of our lineup, which we didn't have much of last year. That's very important for this team. Everyone counted and everyone contributed, which makes this a very good team performance."

Georgia, which ranked No. 17 in the preseason edition of the NGCA/Golf World Coaches poll, bested five teams ranked higher than the Bulldogs in the field.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend when they travel to Franklin, Tenn., to participate in the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview. The event will feature many of the nation's elite teams competing on the same Vanderbilt Legends Club layout that will host the 2012 NCAA Championships next May.
