BATON ROUGE, La. --- Georgia's Kailey Walsh and Emilie Burger finished fifth and seventh individually, respectively, at the LSU Golf Classic, and the No. 18-ranked Bulldogs women's golf team placed fifth in the team tournament, which wrapped up on Sunday.
No team broke 300 on Sunday under extremely windy conditions. The Bulldogs shot 311 and finished the 54-hole event at 919.
"The wind was strong the first two days but even more so today," head coach Josh Brewer said. "It was difficult today to say the least. After day one, I thought we were close, and we did play much better after that."
Georgia was 10th following a difficult opening round but steadily ascended the team leaderboard throughout the weekend.
"I haven't looked at it yet but I think we would be the low team or very close to that over the final 36 holes, which is where I thought we should be," Brewer said. "We definitely played better the last two days. I'm proud of the way we finished. We could've packed it in and finished ninth or 10th, but we battled to the end and that got us a top-five finish."
Walsh, who was competing as an individual and therefore was not as part of the Georgia lineup, placed fifth at 7-over 223, while Burger tied for seventh at 225. In addition, Manuela Carbajo Ré placed 14th at 227.
Georgia's counting scores on Sunday were a 76 from Burger, a 77 by Carbajo Ré, a 78 from Rocio Sanchez Lobato and an 80 by Amira Alexander. The Bulldogs' dropped Abby Johnson's 86. Walsh shot 78.
Carbajo Ré's loop included a hole in one at No. 5.
Arkansas swept the team and individual titles. Emily Tubert captured medalist honors at even-par 216, five shots better than Maribel Lopez Porras of Tulane and Madelene Sagstromg of LSU.
The No. 8 Razorbacks completed play at 899, 10 shots better than runner-up No. 25 Tulane. Rounding out the top-10 teams were LSU at 912, TCU at 916, the Bulldogs and Wake Forest at 919, Tennessee at 921, Kentucky at 924, Florida State at 929 and No. 20 N.C. State at 930.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular-season portion of their 2012-13 campaign next weekend when they compete in the Bryan National Collegiate in Brown Summit, N.C.
