HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- Rocio Sanchez Lobato's 1-over 72 led the Georgia women's golf team en route to a 302 in Sunday's final round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club. The Bulldogs placed 16th in the team field at 914.
Georgia's three additional counting scores were a 75 from Harang Lee, a 77 from Amira Alexander and a 78 by Manuela Carbajo Ré.
"It was a good round by 'Ro' and one she needed to gain some confidence," head coach Josh Brewer said. "We're going to need to use the end of spring break and the time after that to get to work. We need to decide how we want to define our season. It can still be a great year. We have to be willing to work hard and improve a few things. For the most part, they're little areas not major things that are holding us back. We can still finish this season really strong."
Overall, Carbajo Ré tied for 26th at 223, Lee tied for 42nd at 227, Sanchez Lobato tied for 54th at 230, Alexander tied for 72nd 234 and Mary Ellen Shuman, who shot 80 on Sunday, finished 84th at 242.
No. 3 Duke captured the team title at 862, 10 shots better than No. 14 Vanderbilt. The Blue Devils' Yu Liu earned medalist honors by defeating LSU's Caroline Nistrup on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff after both golfers finished 54 holes at 2-under 211.
The Bulldogs will return to action in two weeks when they compete in the John Kirk Panther Invitational on March 30-April 1 at Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga.
