HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- The No. 14-Georgia women's golf team posted a 15-over 299 in Saturday's second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, climbing to 10th place on the team leaderboard in the process.
Senior Emilie Burger fired an 1-over 72 to pace the Bulldogs, who also counted a 73 from Kailey Walsh and a pair of 77s from Manuela Carbajo Ré and Rocio Sanchez Lobato. Collins Bradshaw's 82 was Georgia's drop score.
The Bulldogs teed off from No. 10 and started slow, turning at 15-over. Georgia then played the front side of the course at 7-over.
"It was a good bounceback round after yesterday," head coach Josh Brewer said. "It wasn't a great day but it was better. Kailey had another solid round…really her fourth straight good round for us. We just need to find consistency from our other folks. Obviously, the scores aren't where we want or need them to be. We'll look to go out tomorrow and finish on a high note."
No. 11 Vanderbilt carded a 2-under 282 on Saturday to move atop the team leaderboard at 10-over 578. Rounding out the top-10 teams are LSU at 581, No. 4 Alabama at 585, No. 8 Arkansas at 591, No. 3 North Carolina and No. 17 Arizona State at 594, Tennessee at 598, UCF at 600, No. 19 Virginia at 604 and the Bulldogs at 607.
LSU's Madelne Sagstrom blistered the Long Cove Club layout to the 6-under 65 to move from second to first on the individual leaderboard. She is at 6-under 136, five strokes ahead of Noemi Jimenez of Arizona State at 1-under 141.
For Georgia, Walsh is tied for 20th at 149, Carbajo Ré is tied for 26th at 150, Burger and Sanchez Lobato are both tied for 46th at 154 and Bradshaw is 80th at 172.
Play concludes on Sunday. The Bulldogs will be paired with TCU and South Carolina, teeing off at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start for the entire field. Live scoring will be updated on a three-hole basis at www.golfstat.com
