Amira Alexander notched a team-high seven birdies on Monday.

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Georgia women's golf team carded rounds of 302 and 294 in Monday's first and second rounds of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, placing the Bulldogs tied for 12th in the 17-team field at 596.
Sunday's opening round was delayed due to heavy rains, which also left the course saturated on Monday.
"The course was pretty wet," head coach Josh Brewer said. "We played 'clean and replace.' It was a grind out there today. I'm glad we played well in the afternoon, but I wish we could have gotten off to a little better start in the morning. Hopefully, we can carry the momentum from today's second round into tomorrow's final round."
The tournament at English Turn Golf & Country Club features nine top-25 and four top-10 teams.
Individually for Georgia, Manuela Carbajo Ré is tied for 18th at 2-over 144, Amira Alexander, Sammi Lee and Rocio Sanchez Lobato all are tied for 64th at 152 and Harang Lee is tied for 71st at 153.
In the morning, the Bulldogs posted a 14-over 302, counting a 74 from Carbajo Ré, a 75 from Harang Lee, a 76 from Sammi Lee and a 77 from Rocio Sanchez Lobato.
Carbajo Ré signed for a 2-under 70 to pace the Bulldogs in the second round. A 73 from Alexander, a 75 from Sanchez Lobato and a 76 from Lee rounded out Georgia's team tally.
"We played much better in the afternoon," Brewer said. "It helps to have 'Manu' play so well, and Amira played very solid, too. She had three birdies in a four-hole stretch towards the end of her day and put up another solid round. She had a very good round in Puerto Rico so it's good to see her follow that up."
Carbajo Ré teed off from No. 13 with Monday's shotgun start. In the afternoon, she birdied No. 16, No. 4 and No. 6 to move to 3-under on the day before giving a stroke back with a bogey at No. 11.
No. 2 UCLA sits atop the team leaderboard at 14-under, four strokes ahead of No. 1 Southern Cal. Denver's Tonje Daffinrud and UCLA's Erynne Lee are tied for the individual lead at 7-under.
Tuesday's final round will feature a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. ET. Georgia will be paired with No. 4 Washington and Tulane, teeing off from holes No. 10-12. Live scoring will be updated on a three-hole basis on www.golfstat.com.
