Know Your Bulldogs: Abby Johnson
2011-12 Highlights
◊ Played in three tournaments, including appearances as an individual at the inaugural Darius Rucker and for the Georgia "B" team during the Liz Murphey.
◊ Played a limited summer schedule because she traveled to Ecuador for a study abroad program.
2010-11 Highlights
◊ After playing in three events as an individual in 2009-10, made her debut in the Bulldogs' lineup at the PAC 10-SEC Challenge.
◊ Most impressive showing came at Rancho Bernardo, which included her first collegiate under-par round - a 2-under in the final round that pushed her up 20 spots individually and Georgia from 10th to fourth in a field with six top-10 teams.
2009-10 Highlights
◊ Competed as an individual at two events and as a member of the Georgia "B" team for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.
◊ Posted a top-20 finish in her collegiate debut at the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate - the first Georgia freshman to start with a top-20 since Mallory Hetzel and Taylor Leon did so in 2005.
◊ Barely missed a lineup spot for the Eat-A-Peach when Tess Fordham birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff to secure the No. 5 position.
◊ A solid 2010 summer included a pair of 11th place finishes at the Yamaha Georgia Open and the Georgia Women's Am.
Pre Collegiate Highlights
◊ A four-year letterwinner in golf and basketball at Buford High.
◊ Recorded back-to-back top-5 individual finishes at the Georgia Class 2A Championships as a sophomore (fourth) and junior (fifth).
◊ On the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (SJGT), won the 2008 Southeastern Junior and had 14 top-10s from 2006-09.
◊ Played post and shooting guard for Buford's highly successful basketball team, which was 32-1 and captured the 2009 AA state title.
◊ Won Buford Basketball's Most Improved Award as a freshman, Hustle Award as a sophomore and junior and was team captain as a senior.
Personal
◊ Born August 14, 1991, Abby is the daughter of Bill and Dawn Johnson.
◊ Her father was a four-year letterwinner at Northwestern Louisiana and is the current defensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints.
◊ Her older brother Billy was a snapper for the Georgia football team from 2007-11.
