ATHENS, Ga.- Georgia equestrian head coach Meghan Boenig has announced that Caroline Johnson of Grafton, Mass., has signed with the Georgia equestrian team. Johnson will join the team for the 2014-15 season. Johnson is the daughter of Erik and Ginny Johnson and has two brothers, Anders and Axel.
"Riding out of New England, Caroline has proven herself to be a smart competitor," Assistant Coach Lisa Anderson said. "As Ambassador for the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, Caroline sets an example of a well-rounded horse woman who understands its not just about what happens in the show ring. We are thrilled she'll be joining us in the fall!"
Johnson comes to Georgia as the winner of the inaugural New England Summer Classic Horsemanship Test. She finished sixth in the Rhode Island Equitation Finals Junior Horsemanship Test and was the Reserve Champion in the 15-17 Equitation in Vermont and HITS on the Hudson. Johnson was appointed as the ambassador for the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge and was named a National Finalist in the event.
Along with an impressive riding career, Johnson is a member of National Honors Society, Make A Wish Club, Guardians for Life, SADD Club, and Camp Sunshine at Saint Peter Marian Central Catholic School. She was also recognized by the USEF Foundation as a Varsity Equestrian from ninth through 12th grade.
