WACO, Texas - Liza Finsness and Heather Schmidt have been named the NCEA National Riders of the Month for November in Equitation on the Flat and Horsemanship, respectively. It is the second honor for the pair this month, as each picked up Southeastern Conference Rider of the Month honors.
A native of Wellington, Fla., Finsness went 3-1 in the month of November, with all three wins coming against opponents from ranked teams. She picked up MOP honors in three of her four rides. Finsness averaged a score of 84.3 in her four meets and defeated her opponents by an average of 1.8 points. She is the only Georgia rider to earn three MOP honors in the month, picking up two against SEC foes. She is 5-1 overall this year with four MOP honors.
Schmidt went 4-0 in the month of November, earning three road wins and MOP honors in two of her four wins. The Bettendorf, Iowa native’s score of 78.5 against Auburn was the highest mark in an SEC meet this year, which earned her MOP honors. She averaged a score of over 74 for the month and defeated her opponents by an average of nearly three points. For the season, she is undefeated at 6-0 and has been named an MOP three times.
The Bulldogs return to action on Jan. 24 when they take on UT-Martin in Martin, Tenn.
