ATHENS, Ga.- Eva Marcelis has signed her National Letter of Intent to ride for the Georgia equestrian team beginning in 2014-15, Head Coach Meghan Boenig announced. She will ride as a member of the Horsemanship team. A native of Seattle, Wash., Marcelis is the daughter of Scott Marcelis and Nicole Rinauro and has one brother, Dominic Carrico.
"The Pacific Northwest continues to send Georgia it's finest riders and Eva Marcelis is just that," Associate Head Coach Mary Meneely said. "She is the best of the best who is out to make a positive difference in the world. She loves philanthropic endeavors and trains tirelessly with her riding coaches. She is a fierce competitor and I am thrilled to have Eva on board!"
Marcelis comes to Georgia as the 2012 Highpoint 18 and Under Appaloosa Youth World Show Champion where she also was crowned champion in Showmanship and reserve champion in Horsemanship. She has accumulated multiple regional championships and high point awards in both Horsemanship and Hunt Seat Equitation.
Marcelis attends Holy Names Academy where she received Community Service Honors. She intends to major public relations at Georgia.
