ATHENS, Ga. – Ashlyn Lawrence has signed her National Letter of Intent to ride for the Georgia equestrian team beginning in 2014-15, Head Coach Meghan Boenig announced. She will ride as a member of the Horsemanship team.
A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Lawrence is the daughter of Rocklan and Kelly Lawrence, and has one brother, Braeden.
“It is hard to express the excitement I feel having Ashlyn Lawrence join our Horsemanship team,” Associate Head Coach Mary Meneely said. “Ashlyn is a lovely young lady whom will bring with her a wealth of talent! Along with her passion for riding, Ashlyn has a flair for fashion and an unwavering commitment for philanthropic endeavors. Ashlyn is successful in whatever she sets her mind on and it will be exciting to she her flourish here at UGA!”
Lawrence comes to Georgia with over 11 years of riding experience, including a Congress Championship and a NSBA Reserve World Championship. She was also named the Justin NM Rookie of the Year and has won multiple circuit awards in her career.
In addition to her riding career, Lawrence is an active member of her community. Lawrence has been the Youth Chapter Leader of the Mayor’s Office of Volunteerism and Engagement, which was started to bring a sense of community to New Mexicans, especially young residents. She also is a member of the Senoritas of the Symphony, which is a part of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra that helps High School Seniors support local philanthropies.
