ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia equestrian team remains the No. 1 team in the nation, according to the latest NCEA Poll that was released today, Nov. 8. Georgia is 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference action.

Georgia is one of four SEC teams ranked, as Auburn stays put at No. 2, South Carolina falls to No. 5 and Texas A&M remains ranked ninth.

The Bulldogs are coming off of an impressive road win against South Carolina highlighted by a pair of MOP rides from sophomore Heather Schmidt (Horsemanship) and freshman Liza Finsness (Equitation on the Flat). Georgia and South Carolina tied in both Western and Hunt Seat events leaving the overall score 9-9, but ultimately the Bulldogs came away with the victory in raw score (1,496-1,493).

Georgia is back in action today when it hosts the ninth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga., in the final home meet of the fall schedule. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m., and admission is free.
