The Gamecocks (3-3) rode to victory in three events, claiming 3-2 margins in Western Horsemanship and Reining, as well as a 3-1 edge in English Equitation over Fences. Each team won two points in the Equitation on the Flat competition.
Sophomore Andrea Turnbull won MVP honors in a tight Horsemanship competition, taking a 6.5-point decision in her match by scoring a 73. Three of the four remaining rides in Horsemanship were decided by either a single point or a half-point.
Fellow sophomore Haylie Jayne claimed her fifth MVP honor of the young season, winning her Equitation on the Flat ride by an impressive 13 points with a score of 90. Michelle Blair also won a point for Georgia in the Flat competition with an 8-point margin and a score of 93.
Georgia’s other MVP ride of the day came from freshman Diandra St. Hilaire. The native of Saskatchewan posted a score of 67 in her Reining ride, good enough for a 3.5-point victory.
The Bulldogs conclude their fall season next Sunday with a home competition against Auburn that begins at 10:00 a.m.
