ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia equestrian Liza Finsness was named the Southeastern Conference Rider of the Month in Equitation on the Flat for the month of October, it was announced today by the league office. It is first Rider of the Month honor for a Bulldog this season and the first weekly award for Finsness.
The Wellington, Fla., native is 2-0 on the season and has defeated her opponents by an average of 5.0 points per meet. She picked up MOP honors in her first meet against a ranked for, defeating South Carolina’s Samantha Kraus 79-75 on the road in Georgia’s 9-9 win over the Gamecocks. Finsness picked up a 76-70 win over Fresno State’s Sarah Schroeder in her debut as a Bulldog.
She is averaging a score of 77.5, the highest average of any Bulldog flat rider and is the only Georgia flat rider who is undefeated in two meets this season.
Finsness and the Bulldogs return to action on Nov. 8 when it hosts No. 9 Texas A&M at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m., and will be the last home competition of Georgia’s fall schedule.
