ATHENS, Ga. - The Georgia equestrian team maintained its No. 1 ranking, according to the latest NCEA Poll released today.
The Bulldogs have held on to the top spot since the preseason, having won each of their two competitions. Georgia’s latest win came over the South Carolina Gamecocks in which the Bulldogs won 9-9 (1,496-1,493) in a tie-breaker.
Highlighting the win were the two MOP performances by Georgia’s Heather Schmidt and Liza Finsness. Schmidt earned the honor in Horsemanship with a score of 77, while Finsness grabbed the award in Equitation on the Flat with her score of 79.
Georgia is one of four SEC teams ranked in the poll, as Auburn is ranked second, while South Carolina comes in at third. Texas A&M is ranked ninth.
Georgia returns to action on Friday, Nov. 8 when it hosts SEC foe Texas A&M at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
