OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Rising sophomore Rachel Kolb was crowned a two-time Reserve World Champion at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, Okla. Kolb’s first Reserve Title came in Showmanship before taking home Reserve Championship honors in Horsemanship.
Kolb finished second in Showmanship, earning marks of 91, 66, 55, 105 and 91 during her ride. She also took home first-place honors in the Intermediate Awards.
“It has been a thrill to watch these athletes excel as they compete among the top competitors in the World,” Associate Head Coach Mary Meneely said. “Their passion and commitment to excellence is shining through each and every ride.”
The Georgia equestrian team is well represented at the AQHYA World Championships, with several riders placing among the top of their respective classes set to compete in their event finals.
Several of the Georgia riders will be competing in the finals of their respective events this week. Rising sophomore Michelina Carbone and incoming freshman Madison Beasley will each ride in the Western Pleasure Finals on Thursday, August 8. Carbone is also slated to begin competition in Reining on Wednesday, August 7. Rounding out the Georgia riders that are competing this week is incoming freshman Charley Thiel, who is set to defend her titles in Hunter Under Saddle, also on Wednesday.
