ATHENS, Ga. – Head Coach Meghan Boenig announces the signing of Mary Helen Hemingway to the Georgia equestrian team as a member of the Spring 2013 signing class. Hemingway is no strange to the Georgia program, as her sisters Lauren and Sara are former members of the team and Julia is a current member of the team. Mary Helen is the daughter of Peter and Polly Hemingway and trained under Jack Tidwell and Liza Boyd. 

“Mary Helen will follow in the great tradition of her family by combining her passion for horses and the Bulldogs as a member of our team,” Boenig said. “I know her academics, athletics and attitude will lead to much success. I cannot wait to have her here in the fall.”

A native of Milton, Ga., Hemingway will compete as a member of Georgia’s Hunt Seat squad. Most recently, Hemingway placed third at the WCHR Southeast Children’s Hunter. Hemingway also won at 2012 Winter Equestrian Festival. In 2011, she was named the Reserve Champion in Children’s Hunter Zone Finals and was also named the WCHR Southeast Children’s Hunter Champion.

Hemingway has also shined in the classroom at Milton High School, where she is taking several AP classes, including AP Language, AP Environmental Science and AP French.

Outside of the ring, Hemingway enjoys shopping and hiking.
