ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Georgia equestrian team had 13 student-athletes named to a NCEA Academic Team and another 21 named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll. The Bulldogs had six riders named to the first team and two to the second team. Five addition Georgia riders earned NCEA Academic Honorable Mention. In all, a total of 244 student-athletes from NCEA-member schools were named to the 2013 Honor Roll, 50 were named to the NCEA Academic First Team, while another 36 were named to the NCEA Academic Second Team. Additionally, 29 student-athletes earned NCEA Academic Honorable Mentions.

Carly Anthony, Sami Belcher, Olivia Dorey, Becca Haaland, Maria Salazar and Paige Stawicki were each named to the NCEA Academic First Team, while Kylee Arbuckle and Lauren Tieche earned a spot on the Second Team. Megan Hawkins, Sara Parr, Grace Rogers, Anna Sasser and Megan Southam rounded out the Academic Team honors, earning Honorable Mentions.

Tieche, Hawkins, Parr, Sasser, Southam, Nicki Alexander, Samantha Baker, Madi Berger, Honey Beth Campbell, Faith Fiorenzano, Jenny Freeman, Allison Haspel, Julia Hemingway, Jackie Hoyt, Morgan Justiss, Selby Merritt, Kate Skoglund, Ali Sullivan, Kelsey Thatcher and Brittlan Wall were each named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll. 

The 2013 NCEA Academic Awards are based on grades from 2012 Spring and Fall terms. Any student-athlete who participates at an NCEA institution is eligible for nomination for any of the academic awards. 

The following criteria should be followed: (1) NCEA Academic First Team - nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 70% of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (2) NCEA Academic Second Team - nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 60% of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated-student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (3) NCEA Academic Honorable Mention - nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 50% of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (4) NCEA Academic Honor Roll - nominated student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively.
