WACO, Texas - The University of Georgia equestrian had nine members named to either the NCEA Academic First or Second Team, it was announced today. In addition, the Bulldogs had three NCEA Academic Team Honorable Mentions and 19 riders named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll. 

Kylee Arbuckle, Olivia DoreyRachel Kolb, McKenzie Lantz, Anna Sasser, Megan Southam, Paige Stawicki and Lauren Tieche were each named to the NCEA Academic First Team, while Heather Schmidt picked up NCEA Academic Second Team Honors. Leylan Gleeson, Caitlyn Francis, Abby O’Mara and Sara Parr were named NCEA Academic Team Honorable Mentions. 

Nicki AlexanderMorgan Beavers, Jacklyn Beckley, Madi Berger, Caroline Blackshear, Honey Beth Campbell, Madi Clark, Sydney Crenshaw, Emily DuPont, Faith Fiorenzano, Audrey GallagherHeather HamJulia Hemingway, Jackie HoytBrittany Lynch, Laura Malone, Selby MerrittKate Skoglund and Kelsey Thatcher were all named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll.

To qualify for the Academic first team, a rider must have competed in 70 percent of her team’s meets and must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5. To qualify for the Academic second team, a rider must have competed in 60 percent of her team’s meets, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. To earn honorable mention Academic honors, a rider must have participated in 50 percent of her team’s meets and must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
