ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia equestrian team has been awarded the No. 3 seed in both the Western and Hunt Seat disciplines at the 2013 National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s National Championships. Georgia enters the competition with a 9-5 overall record and is coming off a third-place finish at the inaugural Southeastern Conference Championship.

This year's national championships will be held April 18-20 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. It marks the seventh straight year that Baylor University and the City of Waco have hosted the national championship.

The NCEA is divided into two disciplines - Hunter Seat and Western, and each discipline will have its own bracket with 12 teams in it. Each of the two divisions has a 12-team seeded bracket similar to that of the NCAA basketball championships. Teams are seeded from one through 12 and placed accordingly into the bracket.

At last year's NCEA National Championships, Georgia won its second consecutive and third overall Reserve Championship. Both the hunt seat and western squads finished third, with the hunt seat team defeating Auburn 6-2 and the western squad beating South Carolina 6-3.

All of the action from Waco will be available via webcast, beginning with the opening ceremony on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Live scoring for all of Georgia’s competitions will be available at www.georgiadogs.com, as well as updated championship brackets.
