ATHENS, Ga. – The top-ranked University of Georgia equestrian team will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24 when it hosts No. 2 Auburn and Delaware State in the first home meet of the spring schedule.
Despite the threat of rain in the forecast, the meet will begin at 10 a.m. Competition will be delayed should there be lightning in the area and will resume once the lightning has moved out.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend riding a three-meet win streak and own a 5-3 overall record and are 2-2 in Southeastern Conference action.
Saturday marks the second time this season that Georgia has faced Auburn. Auburn took the first meeting between the teams 13-7. In that competition, the Hunt Seat team fell 7-3, while the Western squad rode to a 5-5 tie.
Georgia took on Delaware State last season, in a meet hosted by UT-Martin. The Bulldogs took a 19-1 win in that meeting and swept the MOP honors. Among the MOP winners were Carly Anthony and Anna Sasser.
The Bulldogs are coming off an 11-8 road win over South Carolina, which helped propel Georgia to its No. 1 ranking. Highlighting the win were Grace Rogers (Equitation on the Flat), Leylan Gleeson (Equitation Over Fences) and Becca Haaland (Reining) each being named the MOP in their respective event.
Live scoring will be available for both competitions,
