ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia Lady Bulldogs were tabbed No. 22 in the preseason edition of the USA Today poll released on Tuesday, the 22nd consecutive year the Lady Bulldogs have been included in the coaches rankings prior to the opening of the season.

Georgia was featured in two more polls by preseason publications. Athlon tabbed the Lady Bulldogs No. 14 in its top-25 rankings, while Lindy’s placed UGA at No. 19.

"I'm not the least bit concerned with preseason polls," head coach Andy Landers said. "I'm concerned about this team creating its own identity. To this point, I'm very pleased with that development."

The Lady Bulldogs return eight letterwinners – four with relatively significant starting experience and two more with big-game minutes under their belts – from last season’s squad that finished 28-7 and reached the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. Five more newcomers joined the Georgia fold this fall, providing what Landers believes could be an even deeper rotation than a year ago.

Georgia was one of six Southeastern Conference teams in the USA Today poll. Tennessee was No. 4, with Kentucky at No. 8, Texas A&M at No. 13, LSU at No. 17, South Carolina at No. 21 and the Lady Bulldogs at No. 22.

“I think Tennessee and Kentucky are the most talented and LSU is the most experienced," Landers said. “ Then, I think you have 11 more teams that are really, really good. It will be a very interesting year for the Southeastern Conference.”

The Lady Bulldogs open their 2013-14 campaign a week from this Sunday when they host Presbyterian on Nov. 10 at Stegeman Coliseum at 2 p.m. Season tickets are just $40, while single-game reserved seat tickets at $5 for adults and $3 for children.
